Directions by Boat
The Morris is perfectly situated as a stopover for boaters entering the Long Island Sound for a trip east, or for those heading west to New York harbor and beyond. Located on Eastchester bay , our fleet is the closest to the sound, with deep, protected waters, a friendly waterfront staff, and club members ready to welcome you ashore. You and your guests can enjoy nearby restaurants, get needed marine supplies and stock up on food - all within easy walking distance of the club. You are also welcome to visit our bar or party pier for some relaxation and cool refreshments. Upon arrival, call our launch operator on VHF channel 72 to assign you to a guest mooring.
City Island is located at the western end of the Long Island Sound, approximately 2 nm north of the Throgs Neck Bridge, and approximately 3 nm SW of the green flashing marker "25" between Sands Pt. and Execution Rock. The Morris is located on the southwestern tip of City Island (approx. 40°50'N, 73°47'W).
From the west: After going under the Throgs Neck Bridge and the flashing red buoy "48", turn almost due North towards City Island. Proceed almost all the way to tip of City Island and enter the fleet. Once in the fleet, hail the Morris launch on VHF channel 72. Warning: DO NOT enter the triangle marked by the red flasher "2", the white/orange can "B1" and the red nun "4". Within this triangle lies "Big Tom", a submerged rock that awaits you only one foot underwater at low tide.
From the east:
Passing the red flashing marker "46" on the southern tip of Hart
Island, or the green flasher "29" at Hewlett Point, proceed on a
southwesterly course to the tip of City Island. Give City Island a wide berth
while rounding the point into the Morris fleet. Again, be mindful of "Big
Tom" as noted above. Once in the fleet hail the Morris launch on VHF
channel 72.
